About Dr. Ignacio Camacho
at Hospital Cima in Escazú, Dr. Camacho is a board
certified surgeon who is highly recognized when it comes to
vascular surgery. Not only does he work as a private surgeon,
he also works part-time for Costa Rica’s social security.
He is a doctor that gives his patients personal attention
and goes out of his way to make them feel comfortable.
Dr. Camacho studied medicine in the
Universidad Autónoma de Centroamérica (U.A.C.A,
San José, Costa Rica) from 1992 to 1997. He obtained
both his Bachelor’s degree in Medical Science and his
‘Licenciatura’ in Medicine with the level of ‘Cum
Laude Probatus’. He then continued with his training,
participating in all kinds of courses and conferences, such
as the National Medical Congress LXII in the year 2000.

El Dr. Camacho
continued his postgraduate studies and undertook his internship
from 1998 to 2002 in the Rafael Ángel Calderón
Guardia Hospital, in Peripheral Vascular Surgery, obtaining
the best average score in the department of his specialization
during all this time. In the last year of his internship,
he was named chief of his group. Apart from the usual responsibilities
that this post brought, such as being in charge of all aspects
of organization and delegating responsibilities to his co-workers,
he actively participated in teaching, since he considers this
an essential part in the making of a specialist. Additionally,
he prepared hearings for small communities with the objective
of providing basic medical knowledge to people with few resources,
in an attempt to improve their standard of living.
During the last 6 months of his internship,
he took part in a rotation in México Hospital, where
he kept working ad honorem after the finalization of his specialization
until May 2002; at this same time, he was named service assistant
to the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Department of the hospital,
a post he maintains to present day. He obtained his postgraduate
degree of specialization in Peripheral Vascular Surgery from
the University of Costa en January of 2002. He was incorporated
as specialist in the College of Physicians and Surgeons of
Costa Rica in February 2002.
as it was mentioned before, he undertakes the corresponding
tasks of his department, such as external consultation three
days a week, assigned daily surgeries, teaching medicine students
as well as surgery interns from different fields, performing
angiographic and endovascular procedures as well as providing
emergency attention in his field. Furthermore, he continues
to be available for peripheral vascular surgeries en Mexico
Hospital as well as in the Católica Clinic (since 2005).
